That rabbits like to hop is hardly a secret. But now European rabbit enthusiasts have harnessed their bunnies’ natural talents to create a new spectator sport… rabbit showjumping.
Invented in Sweden in the early Eighties, Kaninhop involves bunnies bouncing their way around courses consisting of several small jumps of varying height and length.
Snoopy, a black-and-white bunny from the German city of Jena, is the star of the local Kaninhop club – and he makes spends his days leaping over all manner of barricades, jumps and rails.

Now there are 13 members who gather once a week in the eastern German city to train their animals.
Animal rights activists are alarmed by the past-time. Sweetrabbits, a private animal rights initiative in Germany, has criticised the use of leashes in Kaninhop competitions.
The group has even accused trainers of using the tethers to pull uncooperative rabbits over the obstacles.
But Miss Fehlen points out important practical reasons for keeping competing rabbits leashed: ‘We use them in tournaments for safety,’ she said.

Huang Guofu, aged 41, lost both of his arms at the age of four after suffering electric shocks. Born in Tongnan, Chongqing, China, he developed an interest in painting at the age of 12. He started small but dreamed big, painting pictures he saw in his textbooks by using his feet.Huang left school at the age of 18 to raise money to combat the illness that later claimed his father’s life. He became a traveling artist, creating works on the streets of many cities and selling them to passersby.
In 1999, Huang found true love in a city in Sichuan Province in the person of Hu Guohui. They married in 2000 and she became a staunch supporter of her husband’s achievements, skill and determination to succeed at all costs.
In 2002, the couple moved back to Huang’s hometown in Chongqing and Hu became her husband’s aide. When he wanted to draw outdoor scenes, she carried his supplies and traveled with him.
As if all of this isn’t amazing enough, Huang is now vice-curator of the newly established Chongqing Talents Museum, and is planning to paint a mural depicting scenes of old Chongqing.
He is conducting his research for this project via a computer, which he accesses by biting on a chopstick and using his right foot to clamp a pen that touches the keyboard.
“I am searching materials and pictures of old Chongqing, and preparing the materials for my upcoming creations,” said Huang.
The museum now features several foot-and-mouth painters.
“When life closes one door to you, it must have opened another at the same time. I want to let the younger generation know that there are no real obstacles in life…, says Huang.”
For this courageous man and his art it would appear that this is so and who needs hands anyway?

A one and a half year old Dutch footballer has shot his way to fame and a 10-year professional contract with his local champion’s division football club.
Baerke van der Meij scored almost a million hits on YouTube after his father Jorg posted a film of the toddler shooting three balls into his toy box last week.
The boy and his family are supporters of the Venlose Voetbal Vereniging, or VVV, football team in the city of Venlo where Baerke’s grandfather once played as a professional.
The toddler joined VVV’s star midfielder Ken Leemans during a training session in De Koel Stadium on Tuesday before being offered the “symbolic” contract.
”The toddler’s favourite position has not yet been determined. However, we can speak of a right-footed player with a very good kicking technique, perseverance and, importantly: football genes via his grandfather,” said a VVV Venlo press release. (Telegraph)

Visitors to the opening day of Sexpo in South Africa today were treated to live demonstrations by Australian artist Tim Patch, alias "Pricasso," of his penis paintings of famous global figures.Neither US President George W Bush, former British prime minister Tony Blair nor former Japanese prime minister Junichiro Koizumi were spared the rod as a naked but for a top hat Patch hammered out a series of surprisingly realistic depictions.
Former Brisbane builder Tim Patch was finding it difficult to crack the art market until he dipped his quill in the ink, so to speak.
Under the artistic pseudonym "Pricasso", Patch uses his penis to paint portraits, landscapes and female nudes.
"I dip it in the paint and then apply it to the canvas," says the 56-year-old who grew up in England. "I began doing it at a party around Christmas time.When the canvas became too rough on his "brush", he switched to paper, but has switched to a "smoothed-back canvas … for a better effect".

A Chinese grandmother collapsed with shock when her cow gave birth to a two-headed calf. Dong Yubao, 65, of Gaoyang village, northern China’s Hebei Province, said his wife Li Chunhua, 60, was helping the cow give birth."My wife and a neighbour were in the barn to help the cow through labour," he said. "The calf came out – heads first – and my wife fell to the floor when she saw the two heads and four eyes."
Dong said the cow had previously been a mother many times and her calves had all been healthy and normal.
"I can’t understand why she produced such a weird calf this time," he added.
The calf’s two heads point in almost opposite directions. Both heads have their own eyes, nose and mouth but only three ears between them.
Dong said the two-headed calf can’t stand unaided so his 16-year-old granddaughter Jinfeg is bottle-feeding it with sheep milk. (Orange News)

These a-peeling sculptures are sure to make you go bananas. The detailed works of fruity art – featuring the faces of Elvis and Davey Jones from Pirates of The Caribbean – are carved with a toothpick and a spoon. But there’s no room for slip-ups; each piece is completed in about half an hour, before the bananas start to rot.
When the sculptures are complete Japanese artist Keisuke Yamada photographs them and eats them. Since posting pictures of his monkey business online, the 23-year-old has developed a cult internet following and gets new ideas from his fans’ suggestions.He has made 11 pieces so far, including a dragon and ghoulish skulls. Mr Yamada said: ‘I started making them about two weeks ago and since posting pictures of them online they have really taken off. ‘It began when I peeled a banana and thought it might be interesting to carve a face into the fruit.
‘The first one was the face of someone with a smile. I was surprised by how many people liked it so then I just started making more. ‘People began to suggest ideas and that was what gave me my inspiration.
‘Before I set about sculpting I think long and hard about exactly what I want it to look like. ‘Then I get to work. I want people to think they are interesting and not believe quite what they are seeing. ‘I just use an ordinary toothpick and a spoon from my house. I’m a perfectionist, and a simple design take about half an hour.
‘They can’t take much longer because then the fruit starts to go brown and I enjoy eating them once the work is done and I’ve taken a photo.’ Mr Yamada, an electrician, said: ‘I’m looking forward to making many more in the future.’ (wrapup)

“Cats and dogs are two different species and it’s impossible to have joint descendants,” stated Lai.
